State Approves 4 of the 7 Annexations to SCV :: Real Estate for Santa Clarita VIDEO Update
California approved unanimously 4 of the 7 annexations to Santa Clarita.
The Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission, a state agency and independent body overseen by a nine-member commission, unanimously approved the Copperstone, Elsmere Canyon, Soledad Commons and Vista Canyon/Fair Oaks/Jakes Way/Sand Canyon annexations on Wednesday in Los Angeles, said Paul Novak, executive officer of LAFCO. No members of the public spoke out against any of the annexations at the meeting.
The vote is not a final decision, but it moves the annexation forward.
LAFCO is processing applications for seven areas of land that would add an estimated 25,870 people and nearly 10 square miles to Santa Clarita.
The annexations have to pass a two-step process with LAFCO for final approval, said Novak. With the commission’s approval, there’s now a 30-day period for property owners and registered voters in the annexation areas to object.
If more than 50 percent of landowners or registered voters in either group object, the annexation application is dissolved, Novak said.
If more than 25 percent object in either group, then the commission votes on the annexation.
If less than 25 percent object, then the annexation can be finalized.
