Santa Clarita Libraries Celebrate Hanukkah Storytime!
Christmas Eve is truly a special night this year. Many children will be fighting sleep, begging their parents to let them stay up all night in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Santa in his sleigh. Even more, as the sun sets on Saturday, December 24th, many families will come together to light the first candle on the menorah. Hanukkah is coming to Santa Clarita Valley and the world! This year, the eight-day Festival of Lights begins on the evening of the 24th and continues through sundown on January 1st. Always open to celebrate with our local families, some of the Santa Clarita Libraries will be hosting a three-evening special event: Hanukkah Storytime!
Starting on Tuesday, December 27th, and wrapping up on Thursday, December 29th, the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, the Valencia Library, and the Old Town Newhall Library will be visited by Wendy Hersh and Rabbi Mark Blazer for three evenings of a special story time and sing-along. Each event will begin at 6:30 PM and go until 7:30 PM. Catering to families, the stories and songs will reach children from preschool years to elementary age and even to tweens. Rabbi Mark Blazer will read at least one Hanukkah story, followed by festive songs led by the Santa Clarita Public Library music coordinator, Wendy Hersh.
The kick-off night will take place on Tuesday, December 27th, in the CC Meeting Room at Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, located at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91351. On Wednesday, December 28th, you can find the Hanukkah Storytime in the VA Meeting Room of Valencia Library, which is found at 23743 West Valencia Boulevard, Santa Clarita, CA 91355. Thursday, December 29th, marks the final evening. Hanukkah Storytime will end in the NE Community Room at the Old Town Newhall Library, 24500 Main Street, Santa Clarita, CA 91321.
Whether you find yourself choosing the day that works best for your family or the library located closest to home, don’t miss out on a free night of celebration!
